Why this tour

A long day in the cool north of the island: two very different waterfalls and the lake temple on the way home. Adi drives, times the stops so you arrive before the crowds, and knows which warung by the lake does the good grilled fish.

Hour by hour

  1. Hotel pickup

    Adi collects you at your hotel. Cold water and towels in the car.

    → 90 min drive

  2. Sekumpul Waterfall

    Walk down through the village and rice fields to the tallest waterfall on Bali. Swim if the flow is calm.

    Entrance Rp 125.000 pp→ 40 min drive

  3. Banyumala Twin Waterfalls

    Quieter twin falls with a clear pool. Lunch nearby at a local warung.

    Entrance Rp 50.000 pp→ 45 min drive

  4. Ulun Danu Beratan Temple

    The lakeside temple from the 50,000 rupiah note. Best light late afternoon.

    Entrance Rp 75.000 pp→ 90 min drive

  5. Back at your hotel

    Drop-off. Adi can stop at a coffee plantation on the way down if you like.

What to bring

  • Swimwear and a change of clothes
  • Sturdy sandals for the Sekumpul steps
  • A sarong for the temple (Adi keeps spares in the car)

Shoulders and knees covered inside temple grounds. Women who are menstruating are asked not to enter temple inner courtyards.

If it rains

Waterfalls are best after rain, but if a path is closed Adi swaps in Gitgit or Aling-Aling and tells you before you set off.

Questions about this tour

How much walking is there?

Sekumpul is about 400 steps each way. Allow 45 minutes down and back at an easy pace.

Can we start earlier?

Yes. A 6:30 start beats the coach groups at Sekumpul.
