A short evening rather than a long day, and the one most guests remember. Adi times the arrival so you walk the cliff in the soft light and are seated before the chanting starts.
Hour by hour
Hotel pickup
Pickup from Seminyak, Canggu, Nusa Dua, Sanur or Uluwatu. Ubud adds an hour each way.
Pura Luhur Uluwatu
Walk the cliff path around the temple. Keep sunglasses and phones inside a bag: the monkeys are professionals.
Kecak dance at the temple amphitheatre
One hour of chanting chorus and the Ramayana story as the sun goes down behind the stage. Tickets bought by Adi in advance.
Jimbaran beach seafood dinner
Tables on the sand, fish and prawns grilled over coconut husks. Adi recommends a warung without the tourist markup.

What to bring

Do not feed or tease the monkeys. They snatch loose items and trade them back for food.
If it rains
The Kecak runs in light rain; in a downpour it moves under cover or is cancelled and refunded. Dinner still happens.
